The sign of change

Today I found out that only six percent of the kids at the primary school my children go to have seen the sound of music. I mean seriously....I bet all of them know of Naruto and dora..but NEVER the Sound of Music. It sorta made me sad. Today in class my child was the only one who knew all the words to Do Re Mi. I mean all the words...Like Julie Andrews version.

Anyway..today I found this on my friends blog...sorta fitting I guess.

If you haven't seen Sound of Music...go see it. Have your kids see it. If you need to borrow it..we have it on DVD and video..not to mention the soundtrack on itunes AND Cd.

the peacefulness of wednesday

I love Wednesdays!
I love that it is the middle of the week...and sorta the transition towards the weekend
It is church for tyra and I
It is the one day out of the week that we do not have soccer!
It is the one day during the week that I don't feel rushed to do anything.
Since church does not start until six thirty..our entire afternoon is spent doing nothing!
Wednesdays, wendy's has kids meals for free here on the island...which means no cooking!

So every week, when I wake up on wednesday I feel a sense of happiness!
Besides wednesday happiness...other things are happening here...
Yes, her first tooth out!

Exhausted

Why am I SO exhausted? Now it is a normal day for me to go like a machine from 5 thirty or so...till easily nine thirty or ten at night..but yesterday...alli wanted to do was sleep. OH and my house so shows signs of my lazy!

Maybe it's cause I didn't get a Sunday off? Tyra had games on saturday AND sunday. really we have soccer everyday except for wednesday...but we have church on those days.

I am just complaining today. So let's hope we have energy today. I went to sleep at eight thirty..after I napped for about an hour during the day..So I am going to bhip..and move on!

Wish me luck!

Can daddy swim?

Do people that go on boats have to know how to swim?
Me: No they don't honey.
Can daddy swim?
Me: Well, I think daddy can swim.
I dunno, he always is only standing up in the pool and when we go to the beach.
Me: I think we won't have to worry about him needing to swim.
OH, I know why you said that mom. He won't wanna take swimming lessons from you. Dads don't like it when mom's know more then them!

Be safe Ry.

Pre game prayers.

We are a praying family. It's what we do. We pray for everything....

So of course, pre game, my children and I gather..and I start...
Dear kind gracious Heavenly Father, we are thankful for this blessed day and the time that we can spend together as a family. We are grateful for all the blessings you have put in our lives and we ask that you continue to protect us and keep us safe. We are thankful for the gospel that is alive in our lives and that we pray that daddy learns the truth about your Heavenly Father. We pray that Traysea and Nanea have a great game today and that everyone out here stays safe. We pray that everyone is safe when they return home..

Traysea: Mom I have something I would like to add.

Okay Tray, go ahead...and then end our prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, please have the Holy Spirit be with us so we can DOMINATE the other team! We say these things in the name of your son Jesus Christ AMEN

SO maybe I am pushing my kids a little to hard in sports! OH well..SHE dominated! And then she thanked the Holy Spirit!

45's

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone..

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past, so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood... But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you..

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive every one everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything.. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved..

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield..

45.. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

Homework

So..are you that mom..or dad..since I know one dad that reads this blog...the type of parent that does their kids homework....

Okay..I guess some background information is required..I am blessed with three daughters....
One homeschools. The other two..I throw out into the public school system.

That being said..Tyra, my oldest....and the homeschooled one..had a collaborative project to do. Now, first and foremost..I don't think collaborative projects should happen out of a school situation. I mean seriously..doing a project via the internet with some kid that lives in Tampa...LAME...I do think it is some crazy attempt for homeschool kids to get some type of "social" interaction

anyway..so she tried to get a partner for about a week. Posting via a forum...short version..she got no response. So I had her email her teacher to just ask if she could do it herself...or that I would help her....Teacher said yes

So I did all the building of the model. Tyra did all the writing and research. I mean it was an eco system for a coral reef.

Hi, we are from Hawaii, of course we picked the coral reef.

I mean seriously is Tyra any less smarter because she didn't break out the food coloring and model clay? I highly doubt it. She showed me a picture and I built it.

Mommy, is this cheating?
Tyra, I say no.
Yea, but what will my teacher say.
You will take the picture, and go from there.

Tyra's A in science...still in tact!

Lasting Memories

Today I was reading Chris' blog..and she was talking about how parents..or others in general..."mold" memories. We tell our children positives and omit a lot of the negatives of a story. Well...I think over time..the good thoughts remain..as the bad ones fade to the side.
Like this day. Seemingly happy..right?
Well just two hours before, Nanea was having one crazy groggy reaction to the anesthetic they gave her to have her tonsils and adenoids removed.
Or just how sad we were these two days
Or how moments after this picture, we had to rush her to the hospital.
Or how seconds after this picture, your sister hit you with a spoon!
So...I will look back on these pictures..and just omit some of the less then ideal moments!! Like the transition and all the drama.

It will be the summer that we finally moved to a house that had a pool, Rode roller coasters at Disney, and Mommy let us watch TOO much tv! It was the summer that Uncle Raymond them moved less then an hour away from us!

It was the summer that Aunty Sheryl came to visit!
The summer where we went to the zoo and got caught in a crazy rain storm!
and the summer that Tyra turned 14!

Just to update Felicia

NO, there is NO baby on the horizon. But my personal want from one is no less then it was a year ago. And I am just trying to come to terms with the fact that I may just have to let that go. I have to go with the chant that I have three beautiful and healthy daughters. And that was Heavenly Fathers plan for me. At least past the veil, I will dwell with my children who have gone on. Sigh!

Besides that..school and soccer and totally in effect..EXCEPT we have been rained out for the past three days. Good thing i knew a dude names Noah! Seriously..I don't remember this much rain last year..but who can really keep a record mentally! Right? Anyway..so the sun has shown it face today...but I have a feeling..well via the weather report...this Labor Day weekend might be a wet one!

So I have been adjusting to life with the two piglets at home. I love when school starts back up and schedules are created! I always seem to be rushing here to there..but I sorta love it. It keeps my life in order..and the girls on task...

My computer time is almost over for the day..so I better go check my farm on facebook before I start the towels!
